[Recipe] - Plant-Based Bacon Cheddar Sandwich

Sorry for the cruddy picture. We had impatient staff members rushing us because they were hungry and didn't want their food to get cold or something. Pffffttt.

This recipe was created in our test kitchen as a way to use our new chia loaf (it uses chia to replace the flaxseed, just in case anyone is allergic)! Cool, right? We used whole chia in this case, which gave the sandwich a really cool visual and a super distinctive crunch! It was honestly just a cool and unique taste as a whole -- and totally delicious!

We don't have the chia loaf for sale yet -- we're still perfecting our tweaks -- but let us know if it's something ya'll would be interested in! Here's the recipe, though; you can replace the chia loaf with the Classic!

Ingredients:

  • 2 Slices of the Classic Loaf (or your preferred flavor)
  • 2 Slices of Violife or Go Veggie! vegan cheddar cheese (or your choice)
  • 4 Slices of Good Earth Benevolent Bacon

Steps:

We recommend a toaster oven to prevent premature burning.

  1. Place the two slices of Bread on a small baking pan (that'll fit in your toaster oven. Presumably, it would have come with one?)
  2. On top of each slice of bread, place a slice of you choice of vegan cheddar cheese
  3. Pop your bread and cheese slices into the oven and set to toast on the 5 or 6 settings. Be sure to keep an eye on it!
  4. In a pan, fry up the Benevolent Bacon to taste
  5. Once the toast/cheese combo and the bacon are completed, layer the bacon on top of the cheese on one slice, then top with the other slice, encasing the bacon in the ooey-gooey deliciousness of all 'dat chedda'.
  6. Slice up and Enjoy!
